Welcome
Sometimes life can be challenging. You may notice increasing stress, anxiety, sadness, or memories that you can’t let go of. It’s not always possible to solve this on your own. In these situations, it can be helpful to seek support from a psychologist. I am here to help you.

About me
My name is Vincent Sparenberg and I am a Healthcare Psychologist (GZ-Psycholoog). As a therapist, I find it important that the client comes first. I put people at ease and am genuinely interested in their story. A good conversation always starts with attentive listening. Only then can I truly understand what someone is going through.
By helping people gain insight into their challenges, I help them reclaim a sense of control over their lives. What you understand, you can address. I enjoy supporting someone in that process. I find it deeply rewarding to see clients gain more grip on their lives and create more space for the positive aspects of life.
I graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 2013. Following my graduation I worked at various healthcare organisations, including Centrum ’45, HSK Group, and Jellinek, gaining extensive experience with a wide range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, bulimia, and addiction.
I further expanded my expertise by training to become a GZ-Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and specialising in Schematherapy, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I bring all of this knowledge and experience to our work together on your specific issues.
Individual treatment
In my treatments, I use cognitive behavioural therapy, schematherapy, and EMDR.
In therapy, we work to explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviour. You learn practical skills to approach things in a new way, which often leads to different outcomes than you’re used to. In addition, we explore the thought patterns underlying your emotions and behaviour, which helps you learn to look at situations differently.
In therapy, you can focus on the here and now (for example: “how do I cope with my symptoms right now?”) but you can also explore how your problems developed (understanding and processing the past). Together we will explore what you need the most. Usually, both aspects are part of the process.

Psychological treatment can help with many issues, for example:
-
Anxiety
-
Panic attacks
-
Depression
-
Low self-esteem
-
Insecurity
-
Lack of assertiveness
-
Stress
-
Burn-out / exhaustion
-
Unprocessed traumatic events
-
Grief
-
And many other issues — please feel free to ask about the possibilities for your situation.
Couples therapy
Relationships can develop patterns that put stress on the connection between partners. Recurring conflicts, emotional distance, or significant life events can make it harder for partners to reach each other. Sometimes it feels like you’re stuck in the same conversations over and over without any real change.
In couples therapy we explore what is happening in your relationship. We look at the interaction patterns and the underlying emotions that play a role in your relationship. The goal is to increase mutual understanding, strengthen emotional connection, and find new ways of relating to each other.
I work from the framework of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based form of couples therapy that focuses on attachment, safety, and connection. In this framework, the emphasis is not on who's to blame or being right, but on understanding the recurring patterns (often referred to as "the dance") and the underlying emotions that drive them.
I like my practice to be a welcoming space for different sexualities, gender identities, and relationship forms.
In addition to monogamous relationships, I also work with partners in forms of ethical non-monogamy (ENM), such as open relationships or polyamorous relationships. I believe therapy should provide a safe space to explore these themes without judgment towards your chosen relationship form.

Couples therapy can help with many issues,
for example:
-
Recurring conflicts
-
Communication problems
-
Emotional distance
-
Breaches of trust
-
Jealousy and insecurity
-
Tension after significant life events
-
Anxiety or depression and their impact on the relationship
-
Addiction issues and their impact on the relationship
-
Attachment issues
-
Specific questions about ethically non-monogamous relationships
-
And many other relational concerns — feel free to inquire about what might be helpful for you.
Fees and insurance
Individual therapy
Through Stichting 1NP (a collaborative association of psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.), I have contracts with all Dutch health insurance providers. Your treatment is fully covered by Dutch health insurance if a diagnosis is present. You may still be subject to the insurance deductible. In 2026 this deductible ranges from €385 to €885. A valid referral from your GP is required for reimbursement.
If referred through Huis van Raad treatment is usually fully covered as well. Click here for more info.
If there is no diagnosis, you can choose to pay for treatment yourself at a rate of €150 per hour.
Couples therapy
Couples therapy is usually not reimbursed by health insurance, unless it's a part of the treatment for a psychological disorder. This also means there is no need for a diagnosis or a referral from a GP.
An EFT session costs €180 for 75 minutes. Depending on the severity and duration of the relationship issues, an EFT trajectory typically lasts between 8 and 20 sessions. After the intake, we will estimate how many sessions are likely to be needed.
If you would like to explore whether this is a good match, we can also schedule a 25-minute introductory conversation, free of charge.
Cancellation policy
An appointment can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. If cancelled less than 24 hours before, or if you do not show up without notice, a fee of €75 will be charged (this amount is not reimbursed by insurance).
Registration
If you are interested in starting treatment, you can get in touch by sending an email or by filling out the contact form. I will then contact you by phone as soon as possible to explore whether my treatment approach fits your needs.
If this is the case, we will schedule a more extensive intake session at my practice as soon as possible. After the intake, we will create a treatment plan and schedule our sessions.
If I cannot provide suitable treatment, I will of course provide advice on how to seek appropriate further support.
